It’s currently more sensible to keep info encrypted while you use it, given you’re using an Apple device.
IBM has released A toolkit that makes it a lot easier to implement fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) from iOS and macOS apps.
In theory, hackers will have a time prying on certain sorts of sensitive information that would usually have to be decrypted, such as your financial or medical data. Apps can decrypt content so a user can get the information.
The kit is available on GitHub (iOS, macOS) Now, with Linux and Android variants expected in a couple weeks.
IBM has cautioned that they’re”not perfect or final,” and that they won’t always be useful.
They might, however, be complete enough to reinforce the safety in scenarios where temporary decryption might pose a safety risk.
